[Ovt?] O. Oct 19th 1897
Hon Commissioner of Pensions
Washington D. C.

Dear Sir:

I have an old claim pending under the General Pension Law. Last spring I received a letter from the Hon Commissioner. Letters of inquiries had been sent out and as soon as they were received prompt action would be taken in the matter. Since that time I haven't heard anything from my claim. I am 70 yrs old and I am feeble. Can't get around from Rheumatism contracted in the line of service. Please ajdust my claim as I am in very needy circumstances. [punctuation added]

Very Respect[fully]
Andrew J. McFann
Ovt O.
